About The Orange Advisory
The Orange Advisory is a Minneapolis-based art consultancy specializing in art advising and collection management, with a portfolio of individual and corporate clients in Chicago, Dallas, Laguna Beach, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, New York and Portland. The services I provided are tailored to the specific budget, project scope and timeline of these clients; ranging from the acquisition of artworks by emerging and mid-career artists, to the purchase and installation of large-scale artworks for public plazas and lobbies, to the private sale of artworks valued in the multi-million-dollar range. Since establishing The Orange Advisory in 2015, I’ve brokered art acquisitions and private sales totaling more than $10 million.
Background
My knowledge of the art market was first cultivated through positions at contemporary art museums in Chicago (Museum of Contemporary Art), Los Angeles (Hammer Museum), San Diego (Museum of Contemporary Art) and Minneapolis (Walker Art Center). Extensive experience with collectors, galleries, special projects and auctions have informed a practical, bespoke approach to art consulting; an approach reinforced by my Master’s degree in art history and university-level art history instruction. These credentials are complemented by a passion for art that has driven me to seek meaningful engagement with visual culture for more than twenty years; a passion I strive to share with clients, artists and gallerists. In the spirit of shared experience, I established The Orange Advisory to provide a collaborative approach to collecting that educates and inspires as clients navigate the complex landscape of collecting art.
Approach
In working with new and established collectors, my guiding philosophy is to put my clients’ goals first, whether those goals are to acquire works consistent with personal taste, works that are innovative in form and content or works that promise increased future value. Collecting is a deeply personal pursuit and I strive to provide access to the artists and galleries that are most relevant to my clients and to broaden their enthusiasm, confidence and fluency as collectors.
Services
I provide a full complement of services for my clients, negotiating pricing, preparing artist dossiers, arranging studio visits and private collection viewings, coordinating gallery tours, procuring VIP passes for art fairs, building travel itineraries and assisting with collection installation and management. Those services are particularly well suited to new collectors, providing the resources and unbiased advice needed to develop a personal aesthetic and collecting strategy. In appreciation of adventurous collectors who embrace the opportunity to support emerging artists, I’m committed to introducing my clients to compelling artists and to assisting my clients as they participate in the global art market.
Transparency
Working with an art advisor is a relationship with many facets and benefits. There is no rulebook for art advising, but transparency in financial transactions and discretion on behalf of clients are critical. Building an art collection should be a fun, educational and rewarding experience, and my concierge-style approach to art advising puts my clients’ interests first, demanding the utmost professionalism and highest level of service.
